Blackrock & Harte arranges car, home and small-business insurance for people in Cork city and county. We are a broker, not an insurer: we quote from eight Irish insurers and place you with the one that suits, then stay on your side when something goes wrong.

How a broker works

You tell us once what you need. We get written quotes from the insurers on our panel, explain the differences that matter — excess, cover limits, what is excluded — and you choose. When you claim, you ring us, not a call centre, and we open and chase the claim for you.

Who we are

Gerard Harte founded the firm in 1987 and still looks after commercial clients. Fiona Blackrock-Murphy, Managing Director, runs personal lines. Seán Twomey and Aisling Kearney handle car and home quotes, and Nuala Fitzgerald runs claims.

Regulation and how we are paid

Blackrock & Harte Insurance Ltd is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland (reference C123456). We are paid by commission from the insurer, typically between 7% and 15% of the premium, and by a €35 arrangement fee on new policies. Both are shown on every quote. We hold professional indemnity insurance and are members of Brokers Ireland.

Opening hours

Monday to Friday 9:00 to 17:30. Saturday 9:30 to 12:30. Outside these hours, the insurer's 24-hour claims line is printed on your policy schedule.
